This is the term that matters most. FirstNom is an informational tool. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose or treat anything, and it is not a substitute for advice from your pediatrician, family doctor, health visitor or pediatric dietitian.
Introduction ages, choking assessments and allergen guidance on this site are general information drawn from published pediatric feeding guidance, cited on each page. They are not written for your baby. Development, medical history and family allergy history all change what is appropriate. Talk to a clinician before introducing allergens if your baby has severe eczema, a diagnosed food allergy, or a family history of anaphylaxis.
In an emergency, call your local emergency number. Do not use this site or the app to make a decision about a choking or allergic emergency in progress.
Accuracy
We write carefully and cite our sources, but guidance changes and mistakes are possible. Content on this site has not been individually reviewed by a clinician. Use your own judgement, read packaging where relevant, and check anything that matters with a professional.
Barcode lookups in the app draw on Open Food Facts, a community-edited database that may be incomplete or wrong. A scan result is a hint, not a verdict. The packaging in your hand is the source of truth.
Using the site and the app
- You may use FirstNom for your own family's use, free of charge.
- You may not scrape, bulk-copy or republish the food database or the guides. Linking to us is welcome and always will be.
- You may not present FirstNom content as clinical advice, yours or ours.
Subscriptions
Safety content — the food database, choking guidance and allergen basics — is free and stays free. FirstNom Pro is an optional subscription billed by Apple or Google. Where a free trial is offered, the length of the trial and the price that follows it are shown before you confirm. Cancel any time from your store account: App Store → Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or Google Play → Account → Payments & subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for.
Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, FirstNom is provided "as is" and we are not liable for loss arising from your use of it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
